Do we make every effort to live close with God? Do we have the right attitude? Are we more than a Sunday-Christian?
Did I became a believer because I don't want to go to hell or because God offered me a better life?
In other words is this Christian life, the life that you want? The Holy Spirit came into me and I got to put off all the deads of the flesh to become pure, or are you going; Do I have to stop drinking and smoking? Do I have to wait with sex? Do I have to stop smoking weed? Do I have to stop going to the bar?
God will still let me in to heaven even if I do these things right?
This attitude says; Do you actually want to be saved? Saved from the old you. Or are you actually hoping to keep those things and still get to heaven. Are you living this double life?
I did, until I listened to a sermon which talked about this subject.
It showed me that I am actually that person. That I try to hold on to the wrong things because than you fit in.
But TODAY I want to choose to live a life, led by the Holy Spirit. And to become the person GOD wants me to be, not how people would like me to be.
I don't want to waste my life. If we are just living to earn money and to have nice life, than our focus is wrong, and God can't use us, our life is wasted. Think about your own life, what do people see? Someone who calls himself a Christian but is living is the opposite life? Or a person who is living his life, to glorify Jesus in ALL that he is doing.
I know people want to fit in, I am still struggling with that. But we should think with everything we do, how can I glorify God in this? To not make our own choices, but to be wise and do what the Spirit asks us to do. And to obey Him in ALL circumstances. To do right, to not choose comfort and security.
Jesus didn't promise us a comfortable life. No, Jesus called us to bear shame for his name with joy. God would never let us be tested beyond what we are able.
So try to keep this in my mind, when a stranger is asking you if you are a Christian. When your friends ask you to go out. Stop making excuses in your head.
I was very good in that. I could always find an excuse why to do something.
But my friends have sex to, why can't I? But my friends are smoking to, why can't I. But this friend from church was drunk to, than I can do it to. But it is just one time, blablabla.
Stop making excuses, start making the right decisions.
And how often do we think, God feels so far away, why do I not feel Him. Stop blaming God, start thinking about yourself. In hard times, don't ask God to change the situation, but to change yourself first.
It is all about your attitude.
God loves you, do you love Him enough to, to give your life to Him? To live your life fully for Him?
You can make that decision today!
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
